The APU Dynamics Optimizer is a dynamics optimization tool designed to support modern loudness types (LUFS, True Peak). Underneath the hood, the optimizer uses the same compression engine as the APU Loudness Compressor, but benefits from the full audio waveform instead of real-time measurements. This allows the gain envelope to be meticulously optimized across the entire waveform. The design of this tool allows you to very precisely target a specific average LUFS and dynamic range. Once the gain envelope has been optimized, you can playback the result in real-time while adjusting the character of the sound with the same collection of parameters from the compressor plug-in.

The APU Loudness Compressor plug-in is a compressor/expander designed to support modern loudness types (LUFS, True Peak). Typical compressors operate using only RMS and/or Peak units of measurement. But technology has come a long way since then and we’re overdue for an upgrade.. This compressor uses modern industry standard LUFS units of measurement to provide a far more transparent response which is connected to the way humans actually experience loudness. The entire signal flow of the compressor operates within this more precise understanding of loudness. The plug-in user interface provides a more flexible alternative to traditional threshold-and-ratio style of compressor controls. Instead, source and target ranges of loudness can be configured and the compressor will either compress or expand as needed.

This patch bank includes 40 premium presets, 56 custom wavetables and 18 analog and 28 field recording noise samples for Xfer Records Serum. All patches are built on these wavetables / noises and have an assigned mod wheel along with four useful macros. The sounds of DESERT were inspired by modern cinema and scoring – Especially the latest films by Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve. Therefore, these Serum presets also reflect the themes of those movies: Science fiction, A.I., Cyberpunk, dystopia, technological progress and manipulation of time. As suggested above this patch bank is made for creating innovative cinematic soundtracks but as with all my packs this one is also very flexible stylistically and can be used for various genres like Electronica & IDM, Cyberpunk & Synthwave, EDM, Trap, Drum & Bass and more. Apart from modern soundtracks the sound/genre of Cyberpunk also has been very influential in the creation of this pack. Included in this preset collection are impactful and heavily textured bass and leads, deep cinematic pads, lush plucks and keys and other thrilling synths. Overall, you’ll find a lot of intriguing textures and organic timbres in this patch bank that make Serum sound more alive and analogue.
